This well had a strange feature. Just above the water level, there was a door set in the wall of the well. Villagers said the door might conceal a tunnel, but no one cared to try and open the door.
Noah, Jacob, William, James, Sophia, Emma, and Isabella were the children who lived in the village. William was the smartest among them.
One night, Sophia went into the kitchen to get a glass of water. She realized that they had run out of drinking water.
She went to her father and said, "Dad I'm thirsty! Please get me some water from the well."
At once, Sophia's father left for the well. When he bent down to draw water from the well, he suddenly started screaming, "My eyes are burning! Help me!"
The villagers quickly rushed to the well and took Sophia's father to the doctor. the doctor examined Sophia's dad and said, "He seems to have lost his vision."
Everyone was taken aback by this. they asked Sophia's father to explain what had happened.
"I don't know," Sophia's Father said. "As soon as I bent down to draw water from the well, my eyes started burning."
After taking Sophia's father back, everyone decided to return home and get some rest.
the next day, the children were sitting under a tree and discussing the events of the previous night.
Noah saw a villager running past them.
Noah stopped him and asked, "What happened, Sir? Why are you running?"
I'm going to call the doctor. A few people in the village have lost their voices after drinking the well's water. Something is terribly wrong." he said, his voice shaking.
The children returned home to share the information with their families.
No one in the village could understand home the well's water had suddenly turned poisonous. the villagers started calling it 'the cursed Well."
The villages went to the village council and asked it to help them.
So the Member of council decided to find out. He told everyone that until then, no one was allowed to drink the water from the well. they decided to get water from the nearby river.
That night, William sat at his window, staring at the well and thinking about what had happened. Suddenly, he noticed a strange light coming from the well.
A surprised William decided to look, On his way, he heard an odd sound and quickly hid behind a house. From there, he peeped to see what was happening near the well.
A few men climbed out of the well. They went towards the forest. William was shocked and decided to go after them.
William was puzzled when he saw the strangers plucking fruits from the trees.
When the strangers returned to the well, William followed them silently.
The strangers climbed down the steps and reached the door set in the well. they walked through the door. William followed them inside.
William hid in a corner, listening to their conversation. He realized that the strangers were a gang of thieves who were using the well as their secret hideout.
They also spoke of having hidden listening devices around the village.
"I should get out of here before I'm caught," thought William. He silently went home by the same door.
The next morning, he told his friends what he had seen.
"We should inform the Council at once," said Jacob, anxiously.
"No, we can't do that. they have installed listening devices around the village.
They'll easily find out about a discussion with the village head. It is up to us to do something. We must capture and bring them in front of the Council.
I think we should do this tonight," said William
"How can we do that?" asked Isabella.
William explained his plan. Everyone agreed to meet at a pre-decided spot that night.
"Did you get everything I asked you to?" whispered William, late that night.
"Yes, we did," they said.
"Great! Now we wait for them to come out of the well."
the kids hid behind a bush and waited for the thieves.
After a while, the thieves came out of the well and went into the forest.
William and his friends quickly went inside the well.
When the thieves returned to the room inside the well, they started screaming.
William had sprinkled chili powder on them. Sophia and Isabella poured oil at their feet. they slipped and fell down. Before they could get up, Noah, Jacob, and James threw a net over them.
The children quickly tired them with ropes and took them to the Council. The Head of Council was astonished to see them.
When the men were questioned, one of them said, "We are gold smugglers. One day, our team member was digging up a wall at our previous hideout. He happened to discover a tunnel that connected the room to this well.
We thought that someone could discover the tunnel and find our hideout. So, we decided to poison the well. that way, we could finish sealing the tunnel without interruption.
The poison, when consumed, would make a person speechless for thirty days."
"But my dad didn't drink the water, and yet he lost his vision," said Sophia, angrily.
"That's because when your dad came to draw water from the well, we were just climbing out.
So we sprayed him with a chemical, and he lost his vision. But your dad, too, shall regain his vision in thirty days," said the smuggler.
"But whey did you go out into the forest every day?" asked Noah.
"To collect food," said another smuggler.
The Head of the Council took the smugglers to the police station, where they were put in custody.
The Head of Council praised the children for their bravery. The curse on the well was finally broken.
